Year 1 - Mrs Rogerson 2022 - 2023

Mrs Rogerson

Welcome to Year 1!

Our Class Teacher is Mrs Rogerson and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Hodson.

If you would like to share any of your child's fantastic achievements with us, or you have any questions or concerns, please contact me via email:

We will also be continuing to use Class Dojo to record your child's achievements and to share class information with you. If you are unable to see your child's profile on Class Dojo, please get in touch.

We have now been awarded the "Step into Quality Award for Year 1" by Lancashire County Council. We include continuous provision in all of our lessons and children are encouraged to challenge and stretch themselves within our engaging areas of provision. We have been very busy updating our provision over the summer holidays to ensure it is engaging, challenging and following the children's interests. As you can see from the images in our gallery, we have kept the environment neutral and calming to allow the children to focus on their self chosen tasks. The enhancements and resources within each area will change as we move through our topics. We will always try to reflect the children's interests and fascinations in our provision.

Our first topic of the school year was "Out of the Ark" in which we focused on animals and their habitats from around the world. The topic web for our first topic can be downloaded from the bottom of this webpage. Our next topic was "The Toybox" in which we learned about changes in living memories to toys (such as changes in their materials and mechanisms) and made our own moving Christmas card using out DT mechanisms learning. In Spring Term our first topic is "Down at the Bottom of the Garden". In this topic we will cover growing plants and seeds, and what plants need to grow healthily. We will complete an art project using observational drawing to help us to design a motif for our own printing block, and learn about writing instructions.

Photographs of the work completed within the topics can be found in our galleries at the bottom of the page.
