Awards - Spring 1 - 2024/25
ARTICULATION
We are so impressed with how well you can articulate and explain your feelings. When you were little you found it hard to explain how you were feeling and what to do to make you feel better. Now you are really good at using grown up vocabulary to explain these feelings. You are very articulate in geography, maths and science lessons too. Often, we ask you how you know something and you can tell us using the topic vocabulary that we have taught in the lesson. You are good at asking questions when you don't understand instructions and are confident to explain your understanding to other children. Well done - keep it up.
CONFIDENCE
Confidence is not something that you find overnight. It is something that is worked on little by little each day, and sometimes the progress we have made is not evident until we stop and look back at just how far we have come. You have won the award for confidence because of just how far you have come through your time with us. You are not the loudest. You are not the first to make your voice heard. You are not the person who has to have things their way. But that is not what confidence is about. This award is not designed for the recognition of those things. It is awarded to someone who continually betters themselves and as the days, weeks, months and years pass, becomes more self-assured and finds their own voice. What they do with that voice does not decide how confident they are. What does deserve the award of confidence is knowing that voice is there and using it effectively. The progress you have made and the person you have become whilst with us are amazing - you thoroughly deserve recognition for the confidence you demonstrate to us all.
FORGIVENESS
You are so mature and understanding of other children in our class. You listen to their problems and worries and help them to work out solutions. You have a grown-up approach to friendship, forgiving people when they make a mistake and working together to solve problems. If ever there is an issue during a game of football or a falling out when working as a team, you are one of the first children to suggest how we could move forward to make friends and you try to make sure that the solution leaves everyone feeling happy. Well done - you are a great friend.
GENEROSITY
We are giving you this award for being incredibly generous every day. You go above and beyond to help those around you, putting their needs before your own and making commitments beyond your years. You are such an amazing friend and always help anybody and everybody that you can, no matter what the situation. You also have an infectious smile that is evident from the minute that you enter the classroom to the moment that you leave that has a real impact around school. You also provide so many other traits each day, such as kindness, loyalty and joy and all these combined make you the lovely, generous person you are. Keep being that amazing, generous person and making the huge difference that you do every day.
HAPPINESS
You are an absolute little ray of sunshine. You have the most infectious smile and giggle which you share and spread round the classroom. You are caring and thoughtful and will check in on your friends and the staff too. Mrs Rogerson came into our class for the afternoon and she mentioned she had felt a little hand on her back and turned round to see a big smile from you. You have a way of finding fun in almost everything you do, all the while being sensible and mature for your 5 little years. You show your happiness for others too, congratulating them when they get rewarded and you share your own happiness with others with your cheeky but lovely sense of humour. You are a delight to have in class!
INDIVIDUALITY
You show individuality in so many ways and are not afraid to be different to others and make your own choices. You always makes your own decisions with such decisiveness and are never influenced by others, which is a fantastic trait to have for somebody so young. Your personality really comes to light every day and you always enter the classroom with a smile on your face, a spring in your step and always ready to learn. You also have an incredible sense of humour and are always willing to make people laugh at every opportunity or cheer them up when they are feeling down. You really are a great friend to others in your class and will always do what you can to help them. You have also really developed your confidence over recent months and this has allowed you to become more independent in the things you are doing in lessons and around school. Well done and keep being you.
INTEGRITY
Integrity is not something we can point to - it is something that we have in us, day after day, in the choices we make and the way we treat others. It is not about doing what is easy, but about doing what is right, even when no one is watching. It is about standing by your values, being honest, and showing kindness, not because you have to, but because it is simply who you are. You have won this award because you show us what integrity truly means. You do not seek attention for doing the right thing; you do it because it is natural to you. You stay true to yourself, treating everyone with fairness and respect. In every interaction, every decision, and every quiet moment where character is revealed, you have shown us that integrity is not just a quality you have - it is a part of who you are. That is why you deserve this recognition today and we hope that people look to you as an example of what integrity looks like.
JOY
Joy is such a TINY word, yet it is more than perfect to describe the HUGE feeling of happiness, peace and love that you bring to our classroom. You are the little ray of sunshine on our darkest days, you are the quiet and humble 'Thank you Mrs Pilling' at the end of a hard day, you are the smiley 'Good morning, how are you?' that greets me on a rainy morning stood at the gate and the grateful smile of appreciation when you have been given help. Your friendliness, easy-going nature and humble quietness that is never short of a smile is a delight to be nearby. Smiling is in fact your speciality; the boost of happiness that this brings is something that I am very thankful for. You more than deserve this award for being such a wonderfully joyful boy who radiates positive energy around the school.
JUSTICE
Justice, the act of always treating people fairly and properly to make sure that no one is hurt or upset. It is with great enthusiasm, that I nominate you for the value of justice this half-term, especially during challenging times. You have stood out as a beacon of fairness and integrity in school at all times. You have demonstrated an innate understanding of the difference between right and wrong, which you display not only in your everyday actions but also in your interactions with others in the class. Whether in the classroom or on the playground, you have taken on the role of mediator, guiding your classmates through moments of conflict with a calm and reasoned approach. When scuffles have arisen this half-term, it's you who has consistently stepped in to ensure that people have not got hurt and been a peacekeeper of Year 5. You embody the very spirit of justice, reminding us all of the importance of demonstrating empathy and understanding towards others. It is this quality that makes you the perfect choice for the School Value Award for Justice. Well done! You have made our school a better place for everyone.
KINDNESS
We have chosen you for this award because we cannot think of a time when you have failed to think of other children before yourself. You are so caring and kind. Recently, you have helped children who have fallen on the playground, helped the staff with tidying up after lessons and helped volunteers when they needed to find the children that they were reading with. You have been particularly kind to one of your friends who can struggle to hear instructions. You always make sure she knows when her name has been called or that she has heard instructions by checking in on her. I know that she appreciates your kindness too. Well done. Keep it up.
RESILIENCE
At school, it is not always easy to tackle challenges, especially when the work is really tricky. But through your hard work and sheer determination you have shown us what true resilience is. You have faced every challenge with a never-give-up attitude. Even when things can upset you and get you down, it doesn’t take long now for that beaming smile to come across your face. You learn from every mistake and keep pushing forward. We were so proud of you when you learned to add up two numbers together and when you wrote a sentence all by yourself. We were also incredibly proud when you learned to ride your bike all across the playground. You’ve shown all of us that no matter how tricky things can get, with effort and resilience we can overcome anything. Well done.
SERVICE
Service is one of the most selfless qualities a person can have. It is not about recognition or reward, but about seeing where help is needed and stepping forward without hesitation. It is about giving your time, your energy, and your kindness simply because you care. True service is not measured in big gestures but in the quiet, consistent ways someone makes a difference to those around them. You embody this every day. You give up your own time, not because you have to, but because you want to help. Whether it is during break times, after school, or in the little moments where others might step back, you are always there, ready to do what needs to be done. Your commitment, reliability, and generosity make a real impact on our school, and we are all better for it. That is why you truly deserve this award for service.
