You speak and write with an eloquence that captivates your audience, always contributing to class discussions with insightful and thought-provoking comments. Your perceptiveness and maturity go far beyond your years, allowing you to engage with ideas at a depth that is truly remarkable for a Year 5 student. Your writing is a joy to read - crafted with the care and precision of an author who understands the power of words. You write with a clear sense of purpose and audience, adapting your vocabulary and sentence structure seamlessly to suit any genre. Whether you are creating a narrative, composing an argument, or exploring a theme, your work demonstrates creativity, clarity, and sophistication. You are not only talented but also a role model for your peers, showing that language is a tool for expression, connection, and impact. CONFIDENCE

This term, you have shown wonderful confidence and determination. When you first realised how many lines you had in the nativity, you felt quite nervous, but you didn’t let that stop you. You worked hard, practised regularly, and slowly built up your confidence. When it came to the performance, you delivered your lines clearly and calmly, and it was lovely to see the confidence we see from you every day in class shine through on stage. Your effort and growth were clear to everyone watching. You have been a positive role model throughout the term, showing your classmates that taking on a challenge can lead to great success. Your enthusiasm and willingness to try your best have made a real impact in our classroom. Well done! Your hard work and bravery made your performance something to be truly proud of.

FORGIVENESS

Does someone have to have done you wrong for you to demonstrate your forgiving nature? Not necessarily. In some instances, a forgiving nature can be seen through the kind, thoughtful actions that you do and the way you treat other people. You are one of the most empathetic, caring and kind-natured children we have ever had at Barton St Lawrence. There is not a malicious bone in your body - you see the kindness and good in everyone. You always see the positives in any situation and you bring light to any room you are in. Your glass-half-full attitude is the foundation of your forgiving nature - In your eyes, people always deserve another chance; one that you are always willing to offer. You are testament to the benefits of treating people with kindness - as that kindness seems to emanate off of you, making you a kind, forgiving and caring person to be around.

GENEROSITY

We have chosen you for the generosity award because you are so kind and caring with all of your friends. You have a special ability to see where children need help and try to support them. You share your resources, ideas and time with enthusiasm. Recently we have been joined by a new member of the class. You have taken the time to get to know them and make them feel very welcome. You invite them into your play and have helped them to settle into the classroom by finding out their interests and favourite games to play. It has been lovely to see the effect that your generosity has had on the others in our class. You make the children feel happy and cared for and I couldn't be prouder of you. Well done.

Your kindness and friendliness shine through in all that you do, making you a valued and respected member of our class community. INDIVIDUALITY

You make our classroom a joy to be in. Every day, you remind us just how brilliant it is to be yourself. The moment you walk through the door, your confidence shines. Anything that calls for a little sparkle or performance we can always rely on you to be the star! You always manage to add that special touch of yourself. You are never shy about sharing a funny story with adults or children. Often, your stories are so well articulated and so silly that the whole class ends up in fits of giggles. However, it is your quick wit that is the most surprising. You often deliver something very silly or funny with a straight face. This makes it even more amusing! Your imagination is incredible too. When it comes to writing, you’re often the first to create sentences that sparkle, ideas that make us gasp, and characters that leap off the page with their own bit of magic. Your humour and confidence inspire everyone around you to embrace who they are. Thank you for being you - we hope you never change!

INTEGRITY

Integrity is hard to quantify as often it needs to be seen to be appreciated. A time of hardship needs to be overcome. However, where your strength lies is in your quiet yet burning determination to succeed. You navigate your desire to get better in a very mature way. You do not talk loudly about your ambitions. You do not share your successes. You do not wallow in your failures. You have set yourself goals and you will stop at nothing to achieve them, but you will do so without the need to shout it from the rooftops. I wish everyone in this room knew just how hard you work - how laser focused you are on being the best version of you that you can be, because it would surprise people. It would make them see just what is needed to succeed. Hard work behind closed doors. An understanding that progress takes time to show. A strong enough character to dust yourself off when things haven’t gone your way. Your resolute determination to make the most of your time with us has earned you this integrity award. Well done.

JOY

We are delighted to present this award to you for the joy you bring to our class and school community. On our recent trip to Judges’ Lodgings, you explored each room with curiosity and joined in the activities with a smile, making the day enjoyable for everyone. You loved the Victorian parlour games. You cheered on your friends and really got stuck into the corners game. You showed off his best dance moves during Nativity rehearsals, bringing a smile to everyone's faces. Your kindness and cheerful nature brighten our classroom, and we are proud of the way you help others feel happy and included. Well done. Keep spreading joy to our class and beyond.

JUSTICE

You more than deserve this award because you consistently show the school value of justice. You always strive to be fair and make sure everyone is treated how you would want to be. You set a brilliant example for others and what I have really spotted this half term is how you make choices that matter, not because you seek praise or reward, but because you believe in fairness and equality. Your incredible sense of justice often goes unnoticed because you quietly ensure that everyone has a fair chance without seeking attention and for this, we are so proud. A recent example of this is when you quietly took care to ensure that all your classmates had a fair chance to look at some very popular colour charts in English. It’s wonderful to see how much you enjoy working. That cheeky smile when you’re doing well says it all! What impresses us most is how you never shy away from a challenge. You persevere and show us what determination really looks like. The kind and fair way that you offer your help to those around you is another example of how you make sure that people are treated in exactly the way that you would want for yourself. Whether it’s helping a friend (especially in Maths!), making sure rules are applied fairly or working hard when no one is looking, you inspire others to act kindly and treat everyone with fairness. You remind us that justice isn't just about the big decisions we hear about on the news but the everyday choices that make year 3 a fair and happy place for all.

KINDNESS

You have been chosen for this award because you are one of the kindest children you could ever meet. You are caring and thoughtful, always noticing when someone needs help or a little extra support. On our recent trip to the theatre, you showed wonderful kindness by sitting with your partner, chatting to keep him company, making sure he had a snack, and even holding his hand so he didn’t get lost. In class, you love drawing and writing, but you always make sure everyone gets a turn and shares resources without fuss. You never complain if you have to wait and are always considerate of others. You look after your friends and even show care and concern for the grown-ups in school. You are a truly special little girl, and we are so lucky to have you in our class!

RESILIENCE

This term, you have shown a wonderful example of resilience. School can sometimes feel tricky for you, but you have faced those challenges with real determination. Instead of giving up when things felt difficult, you chose to keep trying, and that effort has truly paid off. Over the term, we’ve seen your independence grow beautifully. You have been focusing more in lessons, getting started with your work without needing reminders, and showing that you are ready to take charge of your own learning. It’s been inspiring to watch your confidence rise as you realise what you can achieve. Your hard work and positive attitude have made a real difference, and it’s clear how much pride you take in doing your best. Your progress this term has been fantastic. Well done! Your resilience and effort have truly shone.

SERVICE

The deserving recipient of this award is you for your outstanding commitment to the value of service. Over the festive period, you played a vital role in a charitable project supporting families in need. You visited multiple supermarkets and purchased over 4,000 essential items to donate to people and families in need. You were involved in every stage of the process from giving directions, motivating people when energy levels were low, helping with item counts, loading trolleys, organising the car and ensuring everything was sorted perfectly. You even helped deliver the donations to the temple, working tirelessly right to the very end of the night. What truly stood out was your attitude. Amid all the hard work, you expressed your desire to do even more to help children and families who are most in need. This speaks volumes about your character. You are a kind-hearted, thoughtful young person who understands the importance of giving back. Your actions remind us that service is not just about what we give, but how we care and inspire others. You have shown leadership, compassion and responsibility beyond your years. We are incredibly proud of you and the dedication you have shown.
