Awards - Autumn 1 - 2025/26
ARTICULATION
You embody our school value of Articulation with a really individual sense of character and a wonderful sense of humour. Whether you are explaining the meaning of a new word or sharing your thoughts in writing, you communicate your thoughts very clearly but also in a way that is easily understandable for all. This ability to make the trickiest of ideas simple is truly impressive. We loved the way that you described prefixes and suffixes as ‘heads and tails’ of words and you made us all think about population growth in a new way when you related it to the growth of your class when a new member joined. In subjects like Geography, RE and History, you really come to life. You explain concepts with such clarity and obvious interest for the subjects that your classmates often turn to you for help. We are often all left hanging on, waiting for the next interesting titbit of information. Year three have certainly learnt a lot from you this year! Your writing is often a joy to read. This is because you think creatively and are not afraid to generate original and imaginative ideas that reflect your unique character. Of course, your humour is central to everything you do, including when you are explaining the trickiest of ideas. Your well-timed anecdotes and witty observations never fail to make us giggle. You bring joy to the classroom and remind us that learning can be both meaningful and fun. Thank you for showing us how powerful but also joyful articulation can be.
CONFIDENCE
It has been an absolute pleasure to witness your confidence blossom this term. From the quiet beginnings to now being a valued voice in our classroom, your journey has been truly inspiring. You've grown into someone who not only contributes thoughtfully to class discussions but also encourages others to find their own voices. Your developed ability to articulate your mathematical thinking has been a game-changer- not just for you, but for all of us. By explaining your reasoning, challenging ideas, and even disproving and proving theories, you've shown a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. This has not only helped you stretch and challenge your own thinking, but it has also sparked curiosity and learning in your classmates. A special highlight this term has been your valuable contributions to the maths competition. You approached each challenge with enthusiasm and confidence, clearly demonstrating your mathematical flair. Your confidence to communicate effectively with your team, share ideas, and work collaboratively made a real difference and showcased just how far you’ve come. Your courage to speak up, share your ideas, and engage with others has made a lasting impact. Keep believing in yourself and continue to let your voice be heard- you have so much to offer, and we are all better for it.
FORGIVENESS
You live out our school value of Forgiveness with such kindness and such a wonderful smile that you are more that deserving of this award. This half-term, you have shown how quickly you are able to forgive, forget and move on after any falling out with a friend. This has shown an incredible maturity and warmth that makes you a truly special member of our class. Even when things go wrong, you never hold a grudge. Your ability to smile and move forward has reminded us all how friendships should be. What has delighted me most recently has been your love of storytelling that brings joy to everyone around. You, with the help of your little side-kick, have a treasure trove of anecdotes and tales that you share with infectious enthusiasm, often leaving us all giggling. This gift for making others laugh is part of what makes you such a wonderful friend. You are able to lift spirits and bring people together. Without even realising, you have helped your classmates feel loved. This is also true for the teachers. Never a day goes by when you fail to make Miss Hindle and I feel special. Thank you for showing us that forgiveness is not just about forgetting, but about choosing laughter and love every single day.
GENEROSITY
You are receiving this award because we have noticed that you have shown what it truly means to be generous with some particularly valuable commodities - your time, your energy and your heart. You’re always there when someone needs help. Whether it’s a friend who’s feeling unsure, a teacher who needs a hand, or a classmate who just needs a smile - you step in, quietly and kindly, without ever needing to be asked. Every day when I arrive in school, you are often the first person to greet me, asking "is there anything I can do to help, Mrs Harvey?" (thank goodness, because my answer is always "yes please")! You give so much of yourself to others, always with such warmth and care, making people feel seen, supported, and safe: a very unique and beautiful gift. You often refer to yourself as "the witch of Barton" - just a nickname you gave yourself, but you really are magical! The magic of generosity you weave around school makes your classroom, year group, and our school a better place - all just by being you. And today, we want to say thank you. Thank you for being someone we can count on; thank you for showing us how powerful kindness can be; and thank you for being a shining example of what it means to lead with generosity. We are so proud of you, and so lucky to have you as part of the Barton St Lawrence school family. Keep being you!
HAPPINESS
You light up our classroom every single day! You arrive each morning with the biggest smile and a bounce in your step, ready to take on whatever the day brings. Your cheerful energy is infectious, and it’s impossible not to smile when you’re around. Whatever we're doing, whether you’re exploring something new with an adult or joining in with your friends, you do it all with joy and enthusiasm. It’s been wonderful to see you growing in confidence and beginning to play alongside others so happily. Even during the register, your response is always full of joy – your smile could brighten anyone’s day! One of the most magical moments this year has been watching you engage with the Hairy Maclary stories. You remember every word and proudly shout out the last line of each page, much to the delight of the whole class. Your love for the stories has inspired other children to join in too – all because of the way you share your joy so naturally. As you continue to grow and face new adventures, we hope you always keep that wonderful sparkle and positive outlook. You are a true star in our Reception class!
INDIVIDUALITY
Your individuality is something truly special and it’s a joy to award you with this award. You consistently show us that being yourself is a strength and you do so with confidence, kindness and a wonderful sense of humour. You make your own choices with clarity and conviction, never swayed by others, which is an incredible quality to have at such a young age. Your independence and decisiveness are inspiring and they set a brilliant example for your classmates. Each day, you bring energy and positivity into the classroom. You arrive with a smile, a spring in your step, and a genuine enthusiasm for learning that lifts everyone around you. Your humour brightens the room, and your ability to make others laugh or feel better when they’re down is a gift we all appreciate. You’re a thoughtful and loyal friend, always going the extra mile to show gratitude to your peers and teachers. Your respect, integrity, and strong moral values make you a role model in our school community. Keep being you. Your individuality, positivity, and vibrant personality make you a pleasure to teach and a valued member of our class. Congratulations on this well-earned award - we’re all so proud of you!
INTEGRITY
You have shown wonderful growth in learning to do the right thing, even when it’s not easy. You worked hard to be honest and take responsibility for your actions. You notice when other people are doing the wrong thing and are gentle in reminding them of our expectations in school. You have gone from finding all of the expectations hard to manage in Reception, to being someone others look up to. You now help younger children make good choices, setting a great example with your words and actions. You remind your friends that integrity means trying your best, being honest and learning from your mistakes. We’re so proud of you! Keep it up.
JOY
You bring so much joy to our classroom every single day. You have such a wonderful sense of humour and a quick wit that always keeps us smiling. Your funny little comments, especially your “Yes, ma’am!”, never fail to make everyone laugh. What I love most about you is that your joy isn’t just for your close friends. You share it with everyone around you. Whether it’s children or adults, you have this lovely way of brightening people’s days. Our classroom just wouldn’t be the same without your warmth, your laughter, and that spark of joy you bring wherever you go.
JUSTICE
For someone so little, you have made a big impression in our class! Winning this award is a wonderful reflection of the kind, thoughtful and responsible boy you are. You can always be trusted to do the right thing. You play beautifully with others, making sure everyone is included and that play is fair and fun. You are the first to help a friend and gently encourage others to make good choices too, always in a calm and caring way. You never seek attention for the lovely things you do, you simply lead by example, showing kindness, patience and quiet confidence every day. We are so lucky to have you in our class. You are a joy to be around – always trying your best and always making the best choices. You truly shine!
KINDNESS
We are incredibly proud to celebrate the kindness and compassion shown by you. Your gentle spirit and thoughtful actions make you a shining example of what it means to be a true role model in our school community. From the very start of the year, you have shown exceptional care and patience with your Reception buddy. Whether it's helping them settle into school life, offering a comforting hand- or even waiting for them outside of the toilet to take them out to play, you bring warmth and reassurance to our youngest learners. Your nurturing nature extends to all younger children in the school, always taking time to listen, support, and encourage them with genuine kindness. You are consistently polite and respectful, treating staff and classmates with courtesy and consideration. Your helpfulness never goes unnoticed- whether it's offering to do jobs, tidying up without being asked, or supporting a classmate who needs a hand, you are always ready to step in with a positive attitude. What truly sets you apart is the thought you put into making others feel valued. During your breaktimes, you chose to create personalised bracelets for staff and friends - small tokens that carry big meaning. These acts of kindness reflect your caring heart and your desire to brighten someone’s day. You go out of your way to ensure everyone feels included and appreciated. Your quiet leadership and thoughtful gestures inspire others to be kind, too. We are so lucky to have you in our school - you are a role model not just in words, but in action. Thank you for being a beacon of kindness- you make our school a better place for it.
RESILIENCE
You have shown incredible resilience in everything you do. Whatever challenge comes your way, you face it with courage, positivity and that unmistakable smile on your face. At Robin Wood, you were a perfect example of perseverance and bravery. Nothing phased you... whether it was ziplining, climbing over a piranha pool, climbing on crates, you tackled every activity with enthusiasm and joy. Your attitude lifted everyone around you and showed exactly what it means to never give up. That same determination shines just as brightly in the classroom. You always give your best effort, even when something feels tricky or takes time to get right. You don’t let challenges stop you; you learn from them, keep going, and always come out stronger. Your positivity and energy are infectious, and you set a brilliant example for others through your attitude to everything you do. Your resilience, both at Robin Wood and in school each day, has made us all so proud. You are a wonderful role model, and you truly deserve this award.
SERVICE
Your kindness, compassion, and sense of responsibility have shone brightly this term, and it has been a joy to see the positive impact you’ve had on our school community. As a Reception Buddy, you have been a constant source of support and encouragement for our youngest learners. The care and patience you show, whether it’s helping them settle in, guiding them through their day, or simply initiating fun games at playtime, speaks volumes about your character. You’ve made a real difference in their school experience, and they look up to you as a role model. In your role as a Forest School Ambassador, your dedication has been nothing short of outstanding. Rain or shine, you are always there- ready to help Mr McKnight prepare equipment, support the sessions, and tidy up afterwards. It’s not always the most glamorous of jobs, especially in the Autumn weather, but you approach it with a positive attitude and a strong sense of duty. Your commitment does not go unnoticed. Mr McKnight, along with all the children and staff, deeply appreciate the service you show in this role. Thank you, for the energy, diligence, kindness, and care you bring to your school leadership responsibilities. You are a shining example of what it means to serve with heart.
